Condolences:

Kevin Drake

Ian, I am saddened to read about your grandmothers passing. I don't imagine you remember me. I was your Buddy League Baseball coach with the Raiders back many years ago. Know that I will be praying for you and the family. May God's grace sustain you and His peace surround you.

Jane Yoder Cotner

2024-12-12

Jane Yoder Cotner, 96, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, at Osprey Village in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Born on June 5, 1928, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Verus Yoder and Ruth Beiter Yoder.

Jane grew up in Williamsport, where she graduated from Williamsport High School and attended Lycoming College. She met her beloved husband, Lloyd Charles Cotner, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church while singing in the church choir, and they were married in 1948. Together, they celebrated 73 wonderful years of marriage before Lloyd’s passing.
The couple began their life together living in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania before moving to a farm in Strawberry Ridge, Pennsylvania. After starting a family they returned to the Williamsport area. While raising their four children, Jane worked as a bookkeeper and contributed greatly to her family’s well-being. In the early 1990's, Jane and Lloyd relocated to Fernandina Beach to be closer to family and remained actively involved in the local family business, Cotner Associates, Architects. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

A talented artist with a passion for creativity, Jane found joy in painting porcelain, ceramics, and stoneware as well as numerous arts and crafts. She also had a deep love for gardening and spent many hours tending to her plants and vegetables. Above all else, Jane treasured time with her family and took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Cotner; her son John Cotner; her brother Charles Yoder; and her parents Verus and Ruth Beiter. She is survived by her children Jeanette Cotner Chaffee (Clay), Charles Lloyd Cotner (Dana), Ann Cotner Pittman (Ricky) and daughter-in-law Debra Marie Cotner. She leaves behind her grandchildren Ian Cotner (Kate), Grant Cotner (Miki), Kristen Schebell (Mike), Stephen Cotner (Tiana), Allison Turner (Nathan), Marie Cross (Michael), Rene Pittman, Rachel Myers (Chris), Emily Ennis (Dyne); and fourteen beautiful great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Jane will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, January 19th 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lutheran Disaster Response at Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in her honor. https://community.elca.org/lutherandisasterresponse

Jane’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
