Condolences:

Pat Chestnut

I am just seeing this in the April 10th News Leader. I am so sorry to the whole family but I was close to Wilma & Darlene years ago and can't imagine the grief you are going through. I remember Jason when he was little & how he would come in with Darlene & Pete to eat breakfast at the motel restaurant in Yulee. He would stand up in his seat and was so full of energy. He was so loved by both families I know. I will remember you all in prayer. Pat Chestnut (Ireland) Sarpy.

Jason Lloyd Cooper, 45, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at UF Health in Jacksonville surrounded by his family.

Jason was born in Fernandina Beach and was a son of Darlene Herrington Fletcher and the late J. H. “Pete” Cooper.

He was a 1996 graduate of Fernandina Beach High School. Shortly after high school he began a career which spanned most of his working life with the Ritz Carlton – Marriot Corporation. Jason had an infectious personality and seemed to steal a bit of everyone’s heart he met. He was mischievous and always enjoyed getting the best of someone. He will always be remembered for his special brand of smile. That smile could melt hearts and it did.

In addition to his father, Jason was predeceased by a brother, Theron Cooper, a grandfather, Robert Herrington and an aunt, Diana Herrington Starratt.

He leaves behind his mother, Darlene Fletcher of Callahan; his brothers, Tracey (Sandy) Cooper of Brentwood, TN, Todd (Torrey) Cooper of Ocoee, FL, Tim (Jean) Cooper and Clay (Kayli) Fletcher, both of Yulee; his maternal grandmother, Wilma Herrington of Yulee; stepmother, Lisa Cooper of Yulee; an aunt, Linda Herrington of Yulee; an uncle, Wayne (Kay) Herrington of Fernandina Beach as well as several nieces and nephews.
