JaStacia! Girl, your smile and laughter was everything. The birthdays, trips and life we spent together. I hate you felt you had to isolate yourself after the fame of your son and decline of your health. I am so grateful to God he allowed us to share our childhood together. I will forever miss you and your words of love and kindness will forever be in my heart! Forever my God-Sister!

Stacy was such a sweet lady. We went to school together but she was also my son's oncology medical assistant when he was little. She gave him extra snacks and was so patient with him. I am so very sad to hear this.

I first met Stacy when I worked in Fernandina, it was about the time Derrick was drafted to the Titans, we connected over my nails colors and designs due to them being “Titan blue”. Later we talked kids and grandkids. She was always smiling no matter what she had going on. My condolences to the family and you’ll be in my prayers.!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Stacy and my children were really good friends when we lived in Fernandina. She and Andrea were very close and I know she will miss the calls and laughter that they shared over the years.

Jastacia Natasha “Stacy” Veal, 48 passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville.
Stacy was born in Fernandina Beach and was a daughter of Patricia Johnson and the late Russell Smith. She grew up in Fernandina Beach but also spent a lot of time in Albany, GA with her extended family who lived there.
She graduated from Fernandina Beach High School and also attended Keiser University. Until her health stopped her from working, she was an accountant for the Aston – Carter group in Jacksonville.
Stacy loved to cook, go shopping, having her hair done and will always be remembered for her love of big pocketbooks. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and enjoyed dancing. She also enjoyed photography and fishing whenever she had the chance to go fishing.
While there were so many things she enjoyed, it was her love of her family, her children and grandchildren that was the hallmark of her life. They were her all in all and she loved them dearly.
She leaves behind her husband of 21 years, Latrell Veal of Fernandina Beach; her mother, Patricia Johnson of Jacksonville; her children, Derrick Henry, Jr., of Dallas, TX, Abrionna (Daniel) Mills of Bowling Green, KY, Makayla (J. J.)
