Jean Hollingsworth Johnson

Jean Hollingsworth Johnson, age 89 of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Community Hospice Warner Center for Caring.
She was born on July 28, 1933, in Griffin, Georgia to the late James Troy Hollingsworth and Mary Pryor Hollingsworth.
Jean attended Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. She met her husband, Warner Clifford Johnson, Jr., in Hinesville, Georgia, and they married on August 16, 1959. They lived in Hinesville, where Jean raised her family and taught sixth grade. In her teaching career, Jean built a beautiful legacy of students who knew not only their facts, but also their manners. Most importantly, they knew they were loved. Jean and Clifford moved to Fernandina Beach in 2016.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Clifford; her sister, Joan Hollingsworth; and her brother, James Hollingsworth. She leaves behind her son, Hal Johnson (Lynn) of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Lisa Saitow (Kenny) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; grandchildren Meagan Cook (Adam) of Smyrna, Georgia, “Tripp” Johnson of Macon, Georgia, Maury Jean Saitow of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Mary Burton Cook and Benjamin Cook. She also leaves behind a niece, Sarah Hollingsworth (Jordan) of Stillwater, Oklahoma and a nephew Jay Hollingsworth (Tracey) of Sardis, Georgia.
The family thanks the staff at Osprey Village and the Warner Center for taking such good care of Jean.
The funeral service to celebrate Jean’s life will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s name to the Nassau County Council on Aging at 1901 Island Walkway, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 or online at https://www.nassaucountycouncilonaging.org/.
