Jeanette Mary (Gomez) Conover, 92, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, completed her life’s journey on September 15, 2021.
She was born to parents Bernard Gomez and Mary Agnes (Carpenter) Gomez, on February 16, 1929 in Hardwick, Vermont.

Along with raising her family, Jeanette enjoyed her chosen career as an excellent homemaker for her entire married life, only briefly working away from home at one time. She particularly enjoyed pursuing interests and hobbies in reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and crewel work often sharing her talents with treasured gifts for family and friends.

She was an active member of VFW Post 112 Auxiliary in Oxford, Maine for more than 20 years. During that time she was honored to hold positions in all the major offices.

Jeanette met Stewart Conover in early 1948. They were married on July 24, 1948 in Rensselaer, New York. Together they raised 5 children: Gary Conover (Linda), Susan Conover Young (Mark), Glenn Conover (Teri), Sandra Conover Chasse (Robert), and Barbara Conover Tiller (Aaron).

Jeanette is survived by Stewart, her husband of 73 years, her five children, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, her sisters, Virginia Gray and Bonnie Sicely and her brother, David Gomez.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Patnoe and Joann Hayford and her
Brothers, Bernard (Leslie) Gomez, Richard Gomez, and Robert Gomez.

The family has entrusted Oxley-Heard Funeral Home with the arrangements.

A prayer and final blessing service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22 at 12:00 at the funeral home chapel.
Deacon Art from St. Michael’s will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 at Jacksonville
National Cemetery.
