Jeanne I. Pitler of Amelia Island, FL passed away on April 8, 2024, at age 95.

Mrs. Pitler was born and raised in Bellmore, NY on the south shore of Long Island where she met her husband Richard in high school. They both enjoyed summers working at Jones Beach. She was a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo with a degree in Library Science.

Mrs. Pitler had a lifelong love of beaches and the ocean, starting with Jones Beach and continuing at Nags Head North Carolina and Amelia Island Florida. She loved to swim, play tennis, read and spend time with her
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

While living with her family in the Pittsburgh area, she spent countless hours volunteering at the Richland Library in Gibsonia.

Mrs. Pitler was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Dr. Richard K. Pitler; parents, Wilbur and Grace Higbie; son, David and brother, Wilbur Jr.

She leaves behind her two children, Steven (Michele Bergeron) Pitler and Andrew Pitler; daughter-in-law, Patricia Pitler; grandchildren, Emily Pitler, Lauren Kansupada, Will Pitler and Chris Pitler; and great grandchildren, Luke & Claire Guha and Olivia Kansupada.
