Jeffrey Allen Rogers
2026-05-04
Jeffrey Allen Rogers passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1943 to Arthur and Doris Rogers in Bronxville, New York. He met his wife Sandra Johnson in 1965 and they spent 61 beautiful years together raising four children. Jeff is survived by Ian (Tessa), Trevor (Aya), Whitney (Josh), grandchildren Rowan and Sydney, and Alexander (Victoria). He is also survived by his brother, Jack.
Jeff was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and was a successful business owner. His work was often in Manhattan where he could stay connected to fashion and design, as reflected in his personal style, his lavish gifts to his wife and his eclectic home furnishings. Jeff was an avid runner and cyclist, twice competing in the New York City Marathon and taking part in numerous bike rides, raising money and awareness for cancer research.
Jeff was an avid reader of history. He often chose historical accounts of eras he was interested in. For example, when we moved to Florida, he read extensively on the history of slavery and the black experience. As he moved closer to the end of his life, his reading explored spirituality deepening his faith.
Since retiring to Florida, his larger-than life-personality emerged to pursue new opportunities. Jeff mentored high school students through Take Stock in Children Nassau County as well as youth programs at St. Peter’s Church. He explored his musical talents joining the Amelia Island Singers as well as an all-male a cappella group. Jeff never met a stranger and eagerly engaged with new communities, making friends wherever he went. The legacy Jeff left his children was to meet people where they are regardless of circumstances. He enjoyed each new encounter and connected with compassion and humor.
Jeff and Sandy loved to travel and sought adventure which might be driving cross country with their grandson or finding a new bakery in Jacksonville. In recent years the destination was to California to spend precious time with Rowan and Sydney.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Fernandina at 11:00 am followed by lunch in Burns Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charitable Foundation of St. Peters Youth Fund or Take Stock in Children Nassau County in memory of Jeffrey Rogers.
