Jeffrey Moon

2026-06-20

Jeff Moon (born August 19, 1948) was our Dad. To those who loved him, he was also known as Jeffy Weffy, Papa, Grandpa Moon, Bubpa, El Jefe, J$, Bubbles, Franc, and JCM. He passed away on June 20, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of his dearest family and friends from near and far.

Dad was born in Kearny, New Jersey, where he lived with his mom, Ethel, his dad, Ted, and his brother, Jim. His fondest memory was pitching a no-hitter at age 13. In high school, he won awards for "Best Looking," "Nicest Hair," and "Typical Teen." At age 17, he was invited to try out for the Minnesota Twins. He attended Rutgers University, where he majored in English and was president of his fraternity. He married the love of his life, Pat Kenney, and had three children, Justin, Chelsea, and Collin. He had a long and successful global career in insurance management. He moved with his family around the world before retiring in Amelia Island, Florida.

Anyone who knew Dad knew what an incredible man he was. He was the model of a loving father, husband, grandpa, and friend. He made people laugh, feel special, and feel cared for. His smile and the glimmer in his eye were infectious. If he was laughing, we were all laughing. He was fun, mischievous, loyal, and always up for an adventure. He made excellent pink drinks, had a generous pour, and was the life of the party. Every day of his life, he proudly rotated shirts displaying the current passions of his children and grandchildren. He helped animals, kids, and the earth. He loved hard, worked hard, and played hard. He loved listening to oldies, "no weather" weather, driving convertibles, and growing his CRLs while walking the beach. He genuinely thought everyone he met was just the best and would tell us all about them. During a recent appointment, when asked for a fun fact about himself, he said, "I love my wife."

Dad always said, "This is why we live here” at any simple moment- looking out to the ocean, raising a glass to cheers, or sitting back in a comfortable chair. Dad was truly grateful for his time on this earth. We are so grateful to have loved him.

Dad lives on through Pat, Jim, Eileen, Justin, Chelsea, Collin, Kat, Cate, Patrick, Madeline, Teddy, Hanley, Callum, Eloise, and Miller Jeffrey, and the many family and friends whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Nassau Humane Society where Jeff spent many happy hours walking homeless dogs. Gifts may be made in honor of Jeff Moon at www.nassauhumane.org.
