My condolences to you Kelly and Valarie Jenn was amazing and very smart

Sarah Thurber-Bobola

Jenny has been not a just friend, but a part of our family for as long as I can remember. She would always say ,"I've known you since you were in diapers." There are so many memories, so many good times, I wouldn't even know where to begin, but for some reason the one I can't get out of my head is the two of us laying in the grass at Purgatory Chasm... Giggling and soaking up the sun. Jenny was truly an amazing person, a sister to us, and I can't imagine that we'll never see her again. She was so special and helped so many people, including me. She taught me how to do my makeup, how to curl my hair, gave me confidence, told me I was beautiful even when I didn't believe it, helped me through breakups, and was always there to laugh and be silly with. I love you, Jenny. Always.

Jenn was in my creative writing class in college & her imagination always left me smiling. Her turn of phrase was unique. You could just tell she was special. She had the sort of energy that was warm, inviting, quirky, fun-loving, & simply honest; unapologetic herself. I can only imagine the void felt by those that knew her the best. Sending warm news during this tough time.

This was so well written and conveys so much about Jenny. She was a beautiful thoughtful person. She knew how to articulate words and thoughts so well. She also had a wonderful sense of humor I will miss. I had the privilege to meet her some years ago and she has always been a good friend through many changes in our lives. My deepest sympathy to the family. My heart hurts to think of so many that will also miss her.

I met Jenn when I was 17. First Tim I met her was with her best friend Jessica. We went to McDonalds where Jenn ordered an ice cream , which she then smiled at the person behind the counter and smashed the ice cream in her own face just for a laugh. A lasting memory I will never forget. Tho life took her far and we didn’t talk very much, I will always miss her. A beautiful soul.

I met Jenn through a typical place, Facebook marketplace. Yes it’s true, I was buying a few items from her wedding actually including a few of floral arrangements and the disco ball she had. When I pulled up I did not realize I was meeting someone so kind, witty, personable, and interesting. We remained friends and would share memes and hilarious banter. She was truly unique and kept me on my toes in all of our conversations. I will never forget when I asked how much I owed her, she said take all the items for free, of course she meant it. I sent her money anyway. But I will never forget this exchange and the short time I had to be her friend, it will still such a joy.

Jennifer Lynn Holmes-Carter, born on January 6, 1983, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of Valerie Holmes-Dooley (Jim) and Ronald Holmes. Jennifer, affectionately known as Jenn, was a true fighter, undergoing open heart surgery at just five months old and proudly wearing her seven-inch scar as a testament to her resilience.

After graduating from high school, Jenn embarked on a journey across the United States, ultimately landing in California. There, she earned a degree in Linguistics and English from California State University. Jenn eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL and founded Ultrafine, a distinctive online boutique specializing in women's clothing and accessories.

Jenn leaves behind her devoted husband, Nick, and her beloved fur baby, Dioji. She is also survived by her sister, Kelly Voges (Keith); brother, Ronald Holmes (Heather); sister, Linda Stacey (Matt); nieces, Jenna and Violet; nephews, Brayden, Hunter, Baby Henry and Baby Vinny; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nick and Jenn's love story was one for the ages. They tied the knot in March of 2023 and celebrated their union with a memorable honeymoon in Japan, exploring its rich history and culture.

A culinary enthusiast, Jenn had a passion for cooking and experimenting with new recipes. Her social media pages are a testament to her culinary adventures, showcasing mouthwatering dishes crafted from ingredients sourced from her favorite store, Trader Joe's. A child of the '80s, Jenn had a penchant for the era's music and movies. Always impeccably dressed, she had a particular fondness for fashion, especially shoes. Above all, Jenn cherished her family and friends, often reaching out with heartfelt messages to say, "I love you."

In her own words, Jenn once wrote, "You are not created to be average! God created all of us to do something special and contribute to this world." The world has indeed lost a remarkable soul in Jenn.

Visiting hours will be held from 1-3pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors followed by a graveside service at Bosque Bello Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
