Jessie Charles Barber III, 32, of Yulee, Fla., passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at home.

Born on October 25, 1988, in Jacksonville, Fla., to J.C and Anna Clark Barber, he grew up in Yulee, attending Yulee High School and graduating from the Art Institute of America for culinary arts.

Charles was a skilled musician and enjoyed playing several instruments and singing. He will be remembered for his volunteer work as a member of the Yulee United Methodist Church board of trustees and as an active children’s church teacher.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Jessie Charles “J.C.” Barber, his two brothers Joshua and Benjamin Merritt. He leaves behind his mother Anna Clark Barber, sister Jessica Barber Scott (Garrett), sister Sandra “Sandy” Barber (twin), niece Elizabeth Merritt, Uncle Robert “Bob” Clark (Gail), several cousins, love of his life Scherry Cormier and her son Colt, honorary sisters Sarah Merritt and Michelle Collins, and many loved ones throughout the Yulee and Fernandina community.

The family will host a brief outdoor remembrance on Saturday, March 27, at 3 p.m. at Yulee United Methodist Church. Face masks and social distancing will be required. To mitigate risk, no seating will be provided. Attendees may bring a lawn chair if they wish.
