Jimmy Joseph Simmons

Jimmy Joseph Simmons, 66, of Fernandina Beach, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Community Hospice.
Jimmy attended Fernandina Beach High School and graduated in 1971. After graduation he began his career at Terminal Paper Bag Company where he retired after 25 years. He loved being around his family and friends, and was a faithful member of Starting Point where he spent most of his retirement years making new friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Ossie Simmons and Lucy Mae Delaney.
Jimmy leaves behind two sisters, Sherian Daniels and Mable Russell (Bob); seven children, Jimmy Joseph Jr., Irvin Grant, Shaun Simmons (Erica), Maury Brown (Erica), Chrysten Simmons, Janet Simmons and Latanya Baker; twelve grandchildren, Juwuan, Kiara, Shaun Jr., Precious, Shaunice, Domonique, Aniyah, Alexis, Alice, Jakyea, Raheem and Annalise; Ex wife of 14 years, Robin Simmons; six nieces, Patria, Synetta (William), Lucy (Richard), Passion (Torry), Volare and Leah; one nephew, Eric; thirteen nieces and nephews; cousins, Bobbie (Earli), Lisa (James), Oscar, Pam, Pearl, and Tommy (Sandra); and special friend Sascha Moor.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 1, 2019 between 5 and 7 PM at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.
A homegoing service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastors Richard and Lucy Polk officiating.
He will be laid to rest with his mother at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
The Repast will be immediately after the committal service at Burns Hall of St. Peter�s Episcopal Church, 801 Atlantic Avenue.
