John Kevin Isbell

Mr. John Kevin Isbell of Fernandina Beach passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

Born on August 1, 1951 on the north side of Indianapolis, Indiana, Broad Ripple Village he was one of two children and the only son born to the late William Elmer Isbell and Nellie Naomi Carmichael Isbell.

He attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School for his High School Education, Tri State College and Indiana University for his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He worked for Indiana University Foundation during this time. He also received a Masters Degree from Indiana University (SPEA program). Mr. Isbell was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He became a Hazard Control Specialist through Poplars Research and Conference Center, Indiana University.

In 1987 he accepted a position as an Industrial Hygienist ; Gas Free Engineer for the Trident Refit Facility, Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia.

During his years at the Submarine Base, he received many honors and awards.

For all that knew and loved John, he was a fun loving and generous man who loved cars and racing. He believed a man is only as good as his integrity. John was a man of great integrity. He loved cars and racing.

He leaves behind his sister, Johnna Isbell, Carmel, Indiana, a niece, Sarah Grace Clegg, Scottsdale, Arizona and a nephew, Matthew E. Clegg, New York City, NY and his partner in life, Becky Campbell Swilley, Amelia Island, FL and her children.

A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Sandy Bottoms Restaurant on the ocean front on Main Beach, Fernandina Beach, FL.
