John Ralph Ginway

John Ginway, formerly of Lake Forest, Il, Carefree, AZ and Mantoloking, NJ died Friday, April 29, 2022, in Amelia Island, FL his home for the last 3 years. He was 91 years old.

John was born, October 6, 1930, in Lowell, MA to John Ginalksi and Josephine Piekos Ginalski. He graduated Syracuse University with a BA in English, 1954 and was a member of the DKE fraternity. John was married to Ann Larson Ginway, October 12, 1957.

John spent almost the entirety of his professional career at CBS in network sales. Initially based out of New York, before moving to Chicago in 1975 to become Director of Central Sales. He retired 1994. A natural salesperson, “Champagne Johnnie” as he was sometimes known, had an engaging personality with a flair for entertaining clients, family and friends.

John and his wife enjoyed the many places they lived over the years, but Mantoloking, NJ was always “home”. Every summer from 1961 on was spent with family and friends in their traditional beach home.

In addition to his wife Ann, John is survived by his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Ginway and her husband, David Pharies, Leslie Ginway Gambee and her husband, Peter Gambee; grandchildren Ingrid Gambee Ashbolt and her husband Stephen Ashbolt, Austin Gambee, Matthew McAllen, Ellis Mistrano and son-in-law, Sam Mistrano. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Ginway Mistrano.

The family is planning a small celebration of life later in the summer at their home in Mantoloking.
