Johnny C. “J.C.” Adams, Sr, 87, of Fernandina Beach passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 29, 2000 at the Warner Community Hospice Center.
He grew up in South Georgia and started working at a young age as a blacksmith to support his family. He married the love of his life Emma Gay Moore in 1953. J.C. started work at Container Corporation of America in 1954. After a few years he left the company briefly to move his family to California to work for Fleetwood Mobile Homes. He returned to Fernandina in 1971 and went back to work for CCA (WestRock) until his retirement in 1999.
J.C. loved to hunt and fish, and he was a master craftsman making beautiful wood pieces including a collection of canes. J.C. also loved to collect wind up clock which he learned, over time, how to repair. He and Emma also loved to pursue a deal at a yard sales near and far.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Emma three sons Johnny, Gary(Maggie) and Von (Becky); his five grandchildren Chelsea McFadden; Jared, Ethan, Colton and Jay Adams and three great grandchildren Averi and Austin McFadden and Chloe Adams. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and an “adopted daughter, in love” Michelle Arseneau.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 beginning at 10:00 AM at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
Rather than flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
