Joseph "Joe" Theodore Wingard, III

Joseph (Joe) Theodore Wingard, III, of Charlotte, NC, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2021. Joe was the son of the late Mary Gaile and Joseph Theodore Wingard, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Joe graduated from the Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL, where he was a pitcher on their 1983 State Championship Baseball Team. Joe received his BS from Vanderbilt University, followed by his MBA from the University of South Carolina. After beginning his professional career at Anderson Consulting, he worked as Director at Wachovia’s Corporate and Investment Banking group. Thereafter, he became a senior partner at The Norman Group where he worked for the past fifteen years.
Joe was an avid sports fan, following the South Carolina Gamecocks, and more recently, the Auburn Tigers and Texas Longhorns. He was also a long-suffering Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys fan. Joe enjoyed coaching and watching his sons’ baseball and football games. When Joe was not watching sports with his family, he could be found on the golf course, usually placing bets with his beloved golf buddies. Joe enjoyed traveling with his family, especially spending time at Amelia Island, FL. His personality, intelligence, and great sense of humor will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Pamela Harmon Wingard, his children Matthew Alexander Wingard and Jonathan Michael Wingard; his brother Jonathan David Wingard (Heather), and his sister, Katherine Wingard Sherman (Nate); his nephews Brady Cordell Harmon, Jonathan Ramsay Wingard, Joseph Theodore Wingard, Nathaniel Alden Sherman, Jr., and his niece Beatrice Gaile Sherman; his mother-in law Donna Jean Harmon and his brother-in-law Michael Alan Harmon (Jane).
Thank you to his loving friends who have been wonderful support over the years. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC on Thursday, December 9th at 11am. Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Christ Lutheran Church.
