So sorry to hear about Joe. We met him in Atlanta over 48 years ago and had a wonderful friendship with him. We loved listening to his stories about Yulee and the island, here and in Atlanta. We will miss him.

Joseph Arnow Flood

Joseph A. Flood, age 87 of Yulee, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Fernandina Beach Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in Yulee, Florida to the late Clifford Arrington Flood and Mary Parker Flood.
Mr. Flood graduated from Yulee High School in 1952 and attended University of Florida before leaving to join the Navy in 1955.
In the U.S. Navy, he completed flight training and was commissioned into the U.S. Navy Reserve serving on active duty from 1955 to 1962. While on active duty, Mr. Flood was a pilot, flying the P2V Neptune Sub Hunter. He was very proud of his service to our country and held membership in the American Legion and VFW.
Mr. Flood worked for the FAA starting in 1964. He spent most of his time with the FAA as a tower controller at Peachtree-DeKalb Airport and then later transferred to the Craig Airport in Jacksonville, until his retirement in 1985.
After retirement, he worked at Yulee Pump Company with his father from 1990 to 2004. Mr. Flood specialized in small engine repair while his father specialized in water pump repair.
He was very interested in his family's genealogy and searching for records about his family history, particularly his father’s ties to the historic Minorcan Community of Saint Augustine, Florida.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Clifford A. Flood, Jr.
He leaves behind his sister, Mary Jane Gallagher of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; brother, Francis Flood (Diane Demeranville) of Yulee, Florida; nieces and nephews, Tricia Gallagher (Andrew Goodspeed), Stanley Gallagher (Teresa Cruces), Will Gallagher (Carolyn Joslin),Connie Mathews (Tim), Sam Flood (Tania), Chris Flood, Melanie Hresko (Joe), and a number of great nephews and nieces, as well as two great great nieces.
A memorial service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.
