Joseph Russel Reamer

Mr. Joseph Russell �Joe� Reamer, age 69, of Amelia Island, FL passed away peacefully on Monday evening, February 8, 2016 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach.

Born in Bristol, Pa, he was the eldest of six children born to the late Russell Clyde and Daisy Geneva Odom Reamer. As a young child, his family moved to various cities with his father�s career. Joe enjoyed hunting with his grandfather and collecting Beatles and James Bond Memorabilia. He was a graduate of Oakcrest High School in Knees Landing, NJ. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam era. Upon being honorably discharged he enrolled in Computer Programming School . Subsequently, he joined Prudential Insurance where he excelled through the ranks, working primarily from the Corporate Office in Newark, NJ. During the late 1980s and early 1990s he assumed the responsibility for Insurance Operations at the Regional Home Office based Jacksonville, FL. During his career with Prudential Mr. Reamer earned an Executive MBA from Jacksonville University. In 2000, he retired as Vice President of Systems and Operations in Newark.

Upon retiring he moved to Amelia Island and he and his wife pursued their love of traveling; to many countries abroad and most of our National Parks. Mr. Reamer was an avid landscape and naturescape photographer and enjoyed the game of golf.

He was a parishioner at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fernandina Beach, FL.

Mr. Reamer is preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Reamer who passed away in 1994.

He leaves behind, his wife, Susan Riegler, Amelia Island, FL, his siblings, Jean Saalman, Quakertown, PA, Joan Ware, Hope Mills, NC, Jesse Reamer, Egg Harbor City, NJ, Janet Donald, Waynesboro, MS, Julie Donald, Waynesboro, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Jose Kallukalam, Celebrant.

Mr. Reamer will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy Honors Detail.

His family will receive friends on Friday morning, at Oxley Heard, from 11:00 am until departing to the church for the Mass.
