Pelikan

Hey Joy, Hopefully, wherever you went, you can read this. I will miss you. You treated me well, I enjoyed hanging out with you, and you were definitely a joy to be around, pun intended. We had some good laughs together, and I enjoyed our short but worthwhile conversations when you worked at Publix and I went through your line. Thanks for feeding me tasty meals at the house, and thanks for laughing at my jokes. I liked working on our alcohol buzzes together, and I will always remember the time at Snoops Party when you were eating finger food and decided to wipe your messy hands on the front of my shirt. Crazy good times for sure. Joy, I hope to see you again when my time is up. Pelikan. xoxo

Fond memories of several get togethers that included Joy or were hosted by her. We wish her peace on the other side.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and everyone who is mourning the loss of Joy. Joy was married to my brother for a brief period of time. Even though their marriage ended, I am still sadder by her loss. May many happy memories bring you much comfort during this difficult time.

Joyce "Joy" Allen Bowie

2025-08-15

Joyce "Joy" Allen Bowie, 73, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in her home on August 15, 2025.

Born to Jerry Bowie and the late Sally Johnson, Joy was a graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland. She began her career in information technology, working at Amelia Island Plantation followed by Maxwell House Coffee in Jacksonville. Later in life, she pursued her passion for the hospitality industry, previously owning two local restaurants.

Joy's name was a perfect reflection of her personality. She was known for her kindness, her perpetual happiness, and her signature greeting, "Hi Honey!" always delivered with a beautiful, warm smile. A devoted dog lover, she found great joy in the companionship of her furry friends.

She is survived by her son, Derek Fink (Conchessa Fink); her father, Jerry Bowie and stepmother, Joyce Bowie; her sisters, Cheryl Bowie and Robin Bowie; and her brother, Allen Bowie.

A celebration of Joy’s life is being planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Nassau County Animal Shelter or to an animal shelter or Humane Society near you.
