I am just seeing this and am so sorry. I knew Judy and her family where we both grew up. Later, we became reacquainted while living in Fernandina years later. Judy was funny, direct and tough -- Huntington's is horrible. God speed Judy. We will meet again.
Judy Alison Walker
2025-03-25
Judy Alison Walker departed this world for heaven on March 25, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Born on September 28, 1961, in St. Mary’s, Georgia to the late James R & Alice Walker. She moved to Amelia Island in the 1980s making Fernandina Beach her home. She dedicated 30 years to teaching and earned her Master’s degree in Education.
Judy formed lasting friendships in her downtown Fernandina Beach neighborhood, including at the Green Turtle and PJD’s. She touched many lives with her warmth, humor, generosity and unwavering loyalty and will be remembered for her fiery spirit, stubbornness and legendary pluck. Judy wished to be remembered as a dog-loving, spirited Democrat, a party girl at heart, and an avid sports fan—especially when it came to the Georgia Bulldogs, her beloved alma mater Georgia Southern Eagles and the Tour de France.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Kent and Graig Walker.
Please join her friends for a memorial gathering in Judy’s honor. We will be celebrating her life and legacy at the Green Turtle on Saturday, April 26th at 4pm. We hope you can join us as we share memories and support one another during this special time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist with funeral arrangements would be deeply appreciated. Please contact Lynann Mullis for details. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Nassau Humane Society in honor of Judy’s profound love for dogs.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to all of Judy’s dear friends who shared in her joyous moments and stood by her side through life’s challenges. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
