I had the pleasure of meeting Jutta while working with Master Sergeant Clyde Goodbread in General OConnor's office in Germany. She was beautiful, funny and kind. I enjoyed trying out my language skills ? with her. Always kidded me about it. God Bless this lovely lady.

Jutta Bridgette Goodbread

2022-03-03

Ms. Jutta Bridgette Goodbread (77) passed away the morning of Thursday, March 3, 2022, at downtown Baptist, hospice. Born in Kienitz, Germany, on March 20, 1944, to her belated parents, Ernst and Gertrude Klawin of Germany. As a child Jutta enjoyed playing with friends, and even into adulthood was quite the merry prankster, clever to not get caught (mostly).

She was quietly generous, helping others wherever she could. A great cook, and baker, friends, and family would always request her banana bread, and cheesecake at gatherings. She took pleasure in shopping, bargain or otherwise. She appreciated finding and getting a great deal, which helped when she balanced her checkbook by hand down to the penny.

She occupied her time as a postal clerk, bookkeeper, or as a clerk in charity shops. Following her husband’s passing in May of 2012, she continued to operate Amelia Shotgun Sports, in Yulee, FL, and did so up until the past few years; when she sold it to spend more time with loved ones.

On December 3, 1970, she married Clyde L. Goodbread (a Mason, Green Beret, and Army Airborne Unit of the US Army Special Forces). Supporting her husband, she and her family moved often, before settling in Fernandina Beach, FL, where she lived primarily for the past 20 years. She traveled throughout the US, and the world, visiting Poland, England, Italy, and elsewhere, creating and maintaining lifelong friendships during her travels.

If you saw her around town, she always looked her best, taking pride in being dressed for any occasion. She was the meaning of a lady. Loving a good joke, or story, she was the first to laugh at herself.

Relishing the small things of life, she enjoyed a good meal, especially a great cup of coffee and cake.

She was pre-deceased by her devoted, and loving husband of over 40 years, Clyde L. Goodbread, and grandson Thomas Erdman, both of Fernandina Beach, FL. She is survived by her sister Renata of Germany; her sons Clyde “Butch” (Br) of TN, Stefan (Cheryl) of Yulee, FL, Thomas of Fernandina, FL; & Francis (Jennifer) of Ft. Lauderdale; 12 grandchildren, over 10 great grandchildren; and 1 nephew.

She was a former member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, but for the last few years she attended weekly Wednesday prayer meetings and was a member of the Just Older Youth (JOY) club at Yulee Baptist.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Services will begin thereafter at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ida Iverson officiating. She will be laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery next to her husband, grandson, and with her beloved dog King. Her family will serve as active pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Community Hospice, and all those that were able to keep Jutta company during her final weeks of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to either Shriners International, or Community Hospice.
