David and Auriel Weinberg

Dave and Kim (Groover) Thomas

Aunt Karen will always be remembered and cherished. She was a remarkable woman of strength, determination, and dedication. I deeply admire her life of action—always showing up and helping others when and where needed even when she herself was facing her own challenges. I feel truly blessed to be part of the Groover family, a lineage of strong, compassionate and passionate members. Aunt Karen’s powerful presence and passionate nature will continue to inspire us all. While we grieve her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is now with her precious Lord and reunited with loved ones in heaven. Our love and prayers are with you all. May God grant us all peace and comfort through the precious memories we hold and the assurance of where she now resides. With love for you all.

My earliest memories include Mrs. Karen Combs. She was my teacher, my coach, and my annual school convention cheerleader and sergeant--making sure she pushed me to do new things and things that I didn't think I could do. She was tough. She was tough on us as students, she was tough on her kids, she was tough because she saw potential in us that we were unable to see ourselves. With that tough, came love. I will always remember her laugh that came with eyes almost squinted shut. Years ago she was a supporter and cheerleader for me, Ray, and Donnie as we made up a little musical trio playing in a few churches and events. In more recent years, I was happy to be able to attend the 50th wedding anniversary for Mrs. Karen and Wayne. What a beautiful testimony of a lifelong commitment! Several months after the anniversary celebration, Mrs. Karen asked me to come visit her. During that visit, I played piano for her and she then sent me home with that same piano. Once I got my piano home, I recorded a few tunes for her to enjoy. I'm confident that Mrs. Karen impacted many, many more people than just me. I'll miss her, but my heart holds so many memories and so much gratefulness for the years that she invested in my life. Love to Ray, Kay and the extended family.
