Condolences:

Becky L Snead

Kathy and I worked together for many years at Yulee Elementary. We seldom had a dull moment because she always found something to laugh about. She will be sorely missed.

Kathy and I shared many memories working at Yulee Elementary School. When she laughed she laughed with all her heart. Kathy lived socks! Ever time I’d find a weird pair somewhere I would buy them for her. She must have had hundreds of pairs. She was a great friend.

Katherine Dannelle Grantham-Crews

2024-12-24

Katherine Dannelle Grantham-Crews, age 73, beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin and aunt, passed away on December 24, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL.

Born December 7, 1951 in Douglas, GA to Roy and Doris Grantham. She and her sister, Patricia, grew up in Kingsland, GA. Katherine, or “Kitty”, as she was lovingly called, graduated from Camden County High School in 1970 and then married the love of her life, Bobby. They moved to Yulee in 1971 where they would raise their children, Brian and Carrie, and where Katherine would have a twenty-five year career at Yulee Elementary School. Katherine’s love for her family was unparalleled, and she expressed this through the time she spent with them, the daily phone calls with her son and daughter and the loving care that she took of her husband. She always encouraged her children to follow their dreams, even if it meant moving to other parts of the country. She was always a nurturer and caregiver at her very core, even taking care of her beloved mother, Doris, for many years.

She loved fiercely and loyally throughout her entire life and her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her bright, hippie spirit will continue to inspire and guide. Kitty had a great affection for all things in the natural world and this is something that she shared with her husband and passed down to her children. If ever feeling alone or blue, just listen for the bird song or feel the gentle breeze and know that this is God, and that all things are connected.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Roy Grantham and her precious mother, Doris Ann McElroy-Grantham. Katherine’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband of fifty-four years, Bobby, and their children, Brian of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Carrie (Henry Dreyer) of Cranford, NJ.

Katherine will be laid to rest at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee, FL on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11am.
