Kathleen Carter Bosland

2021-09-06

Kathleen C. “Kathy” Bosland of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on September, 6th (at Baptist Medical Center Nassau) after living 91 full years of life.
Kathy was born on December 24, 1929 to Audrey and Robert Carter. She attended St. Albans High School in West Virginia, and then began college at the age of 16. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1950. Kathy often talked about her years at UK, and what a happy time it was after WWII had ended. She loved big band music, dancing, and the great football and basketball programs Kentucky had during her time there. She maintained her love of big band era music and dancing throughout her life.
Kathy met her husband J Carroll Fletcher through a mutual friend. They were married in 1952, and enjoyed 47 happy years together. They lived in West Virginia, Indiana, and in 1976 they moved to Amelia Island, Florida. Kathy actively participated in all that Amelia had to offer; including boating with Carroll, golf, bridge groups, becoming a charter member of Amelia Plantation Chapel and developing cherished friendships. She always had at least one dog, and she couldn’t imagine life without them.In 1999, Kathy lost Carroll after his battle with cancer.
In 2002, Kathy married Paul C. Bosland. Paul was her neighbor, and he had also lost his wife to cancer. Everyone who knew Kathy and Paul felt joy in watching them find such happiness together. As a friend of theirs noted - it was a true love story. They enjoyed 19 years together traveling, spending summers in Stowe, Vermont and special times with their family and friends.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Paul, her son Carter Fletcher (Susie), daughter Carrie Irwin (John), grandchildren Jessica Fletcher (Mike Creasy), Rebekah Fletcher, Andrew Irwin, and step grandchildren John Irwin and Winston Marosek.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, September 18th at Amelia Plantation Chapel. Due to Covid concerns, please wear a mask where appropriate. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in Kathy’s honor to:
