Kenneth Richard Hawkins

2025-12-25

Kenneth Richard Hawkins, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud United States Marine, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 79. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Born to Kenneth and Jane Hawkins in Akron, Ohio, he was the beloved husband of Janet for 50 years.

He was a guiding force in the lives of his three children, Kimberly (Christopher) White, Kenneth (Cynthia) Hawkins, and Robert Hawkins, teaching them the importance of hard work and kindness. His greatest joy in his later years, however, was his role as “Granddad.”

He is survived by his six grandchildren, Kenneth, Adelaide, Amelia, Steven, Finn and Lila. who will forever cherish memories of his stories, his steady presence, and his quiet pride in all their achievements. Kenneth is predeceased by his sister Nancy Hawkins and survived by his brother James Hawkins as well as his close friends and extended family.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Sergeant Kenneth Hawkins served his country with honor and distinction and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds while serving. Following his military service, he remained a dedicated member of the Everett P. Pope Marine Corps League of Nassau County, VFW Post 4351, and the American Legion Post 54.

Saint Christopher, guide my way, guard me from danger and harm.
