Kirby Carlos Hobby

2025-12-23

Kirby Carlos Hobby, of Fernandina Beach, went to be with the Lord on December 23, following a brief and unexpected illness, which he faced with courage, strength and unwavering faith.

Kirby was born on November 15, 1952, to parents, Tommy and Lavera Hobby, and raised on St. Simons Georgia, along with his six siblings. Family was an important part of his upbringing, and his early years shaped the values of faith, generosity, and perseverance that he carried with him throughout his life.

In early 1990, he moved to Fernandina Beach, where he built a life rooted in love, and community. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Sally-the love of his life, and together they shared a marriage of devotion, companionship and deep affection.

Kirby was preceded in death by his daughter, Janine, his brother, Donny and his sister, Gloria. He leaves behind four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as six children and ten grandchildren he acquired when he married Sally.

Kirby was a man of great faith, loved the Lord, and never hesitated to share his belief with others. He faithfully tithed to O'Neal Memorial Baptist Church where a garden has been planted in his memory-a lasting tribute to a man who gave quietly and faithfully.

Kirby will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering faith and generous spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue on in those whose lives he touched.
