Kirby L. Hendrix
2020-03-30
Kirby L. Hendrix, age 73 of Yulee, Florida went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2020.
He was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Luther B. and Dorothy (Trent) Hendrix. After graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 1964, Kirby served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He was in Vietnam for 13 months. After returning home, Kirby worked at Terminal Bag for 23 years and retired from Jefferson Smurfit after 24 years of employment.
Kirby served as Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher at Springhill Baptist Church and later at Blackrock Baptist Church where he was an active member. Kirby loved the Lord and his family. He was a strong Christian man with a big heart. Honest, hardworking and kind, Kirby was full of courage and wisdom. Never wavering in his beliefs, you could trust him to know the right thing and to always do it.
In his spare time, he enjoyed sports, especially his Georgia Bulldogs and being outdoors whenever he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Malcolm Hendrix and Mason Hendrix.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years and high school sweetheart, Janice Fowler Hendrix; his 2 sons, Brian K. Hendrix and his wife Angie and Brett L. Hendrix and his wife Kelly both of Yulee, Florida; brother, Steve Hendrix and his wife Cathy of Leesburg, Georgia; 3 grandchildren, Brittnie Hendrix of Westminster, Colorado, Brian K. Hendrix, Jr., and Emma Hendrix both of Yulee, Florida who tell everyone hes the worlds best Papa, brother-in-law Steve Fowler of Yulee, Florida, sisters-in-law, Peggy Scott of Cobb, Georgia and Tisa Fowler of Snellville, GA as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Because of current circumstances, Kirby will be laid to rest as part of a family graveside service.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at Blackrock Baptist Church at a future date.

Wow! What a man. We served with Janice and Kirby at Springhill in the 80s. Always impressed with his love for the Lord. I learned a lot from him. Always admired the relationship he and Janice shared. Although our paths have crossed only a few times in the past 30 years, the memories are sweet. We love you, Janice. Our hearts and prayers go out for you.

HARRY BYRD April 28, 2020
I had the distinct pleasure of working with both his Dad and Kirby. By the time I met Mr Luther I was a young engineer with little experience and the first meeting didnt go well. So after that I always brought him a candy bar for our meetings and he taught me a lot. With Kirby it was always business. He was a talented and productive mechanic. He was always focused on doing the right thing, and I could always depend on him to give me an honest evaluation of the situation. Im honored to have worked with both of them!
