Larry Bennie Dukes
2024-07-10
Larry Bennie Dukes, 74, of Fernandina Beach passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 10. 2024.
Larry was born in St. Simons Island, GA as was a son of the late Bennie Dukes and Ruby Viola Martin. He had lived in Fernandina Beach for most of his life. He will always be remembered as a hard-working man having worked for all of his adult life.
He spent time as a car man working for the railroad, worked in auto repair but his love and talent was as in auto body repair and painting. He was an accomplished painter who worked on car restorations. His customers came from near and far because of his reputation and the quality of his work. Someone jokingly said he was able to restore a car from just rust.
He leaves behind sisters and brothers, Charlene Cantrell, Charles Aaron (Crystal) Martin, Jr., Colonel S. (Lorna) Martin, Sr., Thomas Mark (Sabrina) Martin and Ruby Belle Powell; his wife, Zandall Dukes and her children, Deanna, Lisa, and LeAnn Morris as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A service to remember and celebrate Larry’s life will be announced at a later date.
