Laurel Wanda Cavallaro, 83, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Warner Center for Caring.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 7th, 1941, to her parents the late Fredrick and Wanda Sikorowicz. She married John William Cavallaro in Brooklyn, NY on June 26th,1965 and was married until his passing in 2014.

She earned her degree in library sciences at Rutgers University and started her career at the Brooklyn Public Library before moving to South Setauket, NY to start a family. After the kids were grown, she started as the sole librarian for Infant Jesus Catholic School in Port Jefferson, NY. She and her husband moved to Fernandina Beach from South Setauket, NY and became members of St. Michaels Parish. She met many new friends through the Newcomers Club of Amelia Island, enjoyed playing Mahjong, volunteered at the public library, was an avid reader and kept active with pool aerobics and long dog walks on the beach.

She leaves behind her two sons John W. Cavallaro Jr. residing in Fernandina Beach and James Cavallaro residing in Atlanta with his wife Stacie Cavallaro and their two sons Silas and Crosby.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Michaels Catholic Church.
