Laurie Nadine Kipling Hendrix
2025-09-28
Laurie Nadine Kipling Hendrix, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at home after many years of wonderful care from the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville.
Laurie was born in Pasadena, California to Edward and Nadine Kipling on June 4, 1955. Her family moved to Dunwoody, Georgia when she was young and she graduated from Peachtree High School in 1972. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Education and followed up with a master’s degree in education from Georgia State. Laurie went on to teach for 30 years in the Georgia public school system, with most of her time as a kindergarten teacher. She was an avid National Park Passport “Stamper”, traveling to 55 of the National Parks in the US.
While attending UGA, she met her husband, Charles Keith Hendrix, one night at the B & L Warehouse, where he asked her to dance, which eventually turned into 46 years of marriage. Laurie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Keith Hendrix, her children, Andy Hendrix, Kerri Spencer (Steven), and Jonathan Hendrix (Ginger); siblings, Kim Cherry (Jim), Kirk Kipling (Suzie), Sybil Smith and Vicky Sturtevant; her grandchildren Kamryn, Jordan, Hamp, and Maddie along with her many crazy friends. Laurie was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Nadine Kipling, and sister Leslie Kipling.
She touched the lives of countless children, family, and friends with her kindness and endless energy. We take solace in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A drop-in memorial service to celebrate Laurie’s life will be held on November 15, 2025, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kennesaw, Georgia from 2:00 until 5:00. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembering this
remarkable woman.
