Leo M. Skura

Mr. Leo Michael Skura, age 92, of Amelia Island, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Osprey Village.

A native of Lilly, Pennsylvania, Leo was born September 15, 1925. He was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kodosky) Skura. Leo spent his early years in Lilly and graduated from Lilly High School, with the class of 1942. After graduation, Leo enlisted in the US Navy and served tours of duty in Guam, Hawaii and Australia. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he joined the International Harvester Company-Diesel Division in Altoona, PA as a diesel mechanic.

He married his lifetime love, Betty Ann Cassidy in Cresson, PA in 1950. Leo was a long time member of the Legion and Lions Club in Cresson, and enjoyed a lifetime full of the simpler things; hunting, fishing and cheering for his beloved Pirates and Steelers.

In 2012 he and his wife, Betty Ann, relocated to Amelia Island, Fl. He joined the American Legion Post in Fernandina Beach and attended St. Michael�s Catholic Church.

Leo leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law; Gary and Linda Skura of Fernandina Beach, his sister and brother-in-law; Mary and Jim Gettings of Cresson, PA, his granddaughters and their husbands; Kelly and Michael Choi of New York, NY and Megan and Brad Shaw of Winchester, MA, and two great grandchildren; Brynn and Blayke Shaw. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann and his five sisters; Lucy Gegetski, Jean Onischuck, Stasia Squashic, Helena Skura and Ann Smitnosky and three Brothers; John, Joseph, and Jacob Skura.

In lieu of flowers, donations to North Florida Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A Funeral Mass will be held in Cresson, Pennsylvania on December 2nd at 9:30 AM a St. Alyousius Catholic Church.
