Lloyd Charles Cotner

Mr. Lloyd Charles Cotner, 95, of Amelia Island passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center, Nassau.

Born in New Brighton, PA, he was a son of the late Clyde Charles and Florence Walter Cotner.

Mr. Cotner joined the Army Air Corps directly out of high school and served during World War II. During his time in service, he trained French flyers among his other duties.

After the service he worked his family farm and attended Penn State. He eventually became an Architect and would later cofound a successful architectural firm, Cotner Associates Inc.

An avid woodworker, he inherited his love of woodworking from his father. Mr. Cotner also taught at Penn Tech before moving to Amelia Island from Loyalsock Township, PA. nearly 30 years ago. He was a Master Mason and was a member of Danville Lodge #224. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 73 years, Jane Yoder Cotner; his children, Jeanette Cotner Chaffee and her husband, Clay; John Cotner and his wife, Debby; Charles Cotner and his wife, Dana; Ann Cotner Pittman and her husband, Ricky; all of Fernandina Beach. Survivors also include ¬¬nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Mr. Cotner’s life will be held Saturday, May 15th 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Ida Iverson officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
