Lottie Vanzant Ashton, 99, of Crescent City, Florida, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Community Hospice in Baptist South Hospital, Jacksonville.

She was born in Nassau County on March 20, 1925, the youngest child of the late Fred Vanzant and Allie Braddock Vanzant and grew up in Kings Ferry, Florida.

Lottie was married to Russell H. Ashton for 61½ years, spending most of that time in their home in Switzerland, Florida. She was employed for over 27 years by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and was a longtime member of the Switzerland Community Church.

Lottie was preceded in death by her husband Russell H. Ashton and all her siblings: Leila Vanzant Lewis, Alice Vanzant Gunter, Harry Vanzant, Ollie Vanzant, Nellie Vanzant Olfort, Lena Vanzant Christian, and Freida Vanzant Gregory. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be in Fernandina Beach at the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Family visitation will precede the service, from 10 AM until the service. Burial will be in Hughes Cemetery in Yulee, Florida

Rather than flowers, donations may be made in Lottie's memory to Shriner's Children Hospitals or Community Hospice and Palliative Care.
