Louis Todino

2018-10-04

Mr. Louis Todino, 92, of Fernandina Beach passed at his home Wednesday, October 3, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Brooklyn, New York he was a son of the late Joseph and Maria Gallo Todino. He was educated in the public schools of Brooklyn and graduated from high school at the height of World War II. He joined the United States Navy and served during the war. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to his native Brooklyn.

Mr. Todino retired from two careers. He worked for the New York Daily News as a Lino-typist and after retiring from the Daily News he would work for the City of New York Parks Department until he retired a second time.

He spent nearly all of his life in Brooklyn, never moving far from his Bay Ridge neighborhood. But in April of 2016 he moved to Fernandina Beach to be near his children. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and enjoyed being able to be near his daughters and their families.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Gloria Raduenz and her husband, Timothy and Florence Casiano, both of Fernandina Beach; his granddaughter, Alexandra Casiano and his two great grandchildren, Alexander and Gloria Casiano and his beloved dog, Smokey.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 8, 2018 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 PM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Fr. Robert McDermott officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.

Those desiring may make contributions, in his memory, to St. Michaels Catholic Church, P. O. Box 6310, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32035.
