Louise Hicks Luffsey

Louise Hicks Luffsey, 90, of Amelia Island, Florida passed away on March 14, 2020 at the Lakeside at Amelia Island Senior Living Community.

She was born in Bumpass, Virginia to the late Walter Lee Hicks and Gertrude Nicholas Hicks. Mrs. Luffsey spent most of her married life in Fairfax, Virginia and later in Weeki Wachee, Florida.

She was known as the sweetest, most generous person and was kind to everyone even up until her last days. Mrs. Luffsey was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law. She always loved a social gathering, especially if it included a glass of wine, and had many friends. She also was a devoted member of both St. Mark�s Lutheran Church in Springfield, Virginia and Nativity Lutheran Church in Weeki Wachee, Florida.

Mrs. Luffsey is preceded in death by her husband Walter Stith Luffsey; son, Dennis Glenn Luffsey and her siblings, Corrine Winston, Lois Perkins, Elsie Bumgarner, Milton Hicks and Walter Garland Hicks.

She leaves behind her loving daughter Melinda Jones, son-in-law Jack Jones; grandchildren, Jack (Lauren) Jones, Scott and Kelly, and great- grandchildren Griffin, Charlie and Jackie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Nativity Lutheran Church in Weeki Wachee, Florida.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Dementia Society of America or Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.

Louise and Walter were two of our best friends at St. Mark�s Lutheran church in Springfield, VA� We had many good times together. I visited Louisa in her beautiful home in Weeki Wachi a few years ago. She was a great lady. She will be missed.
