Condolences:

Michael J. Dubilier

So many stories. She placed a St Christopher metal under my dad’s bed when he was fighting lung cancer. In the early days of C&D I would be home from graduate school and we would sneak out of the office to see movie matinees. Her loyalty and love for my family ran deep and was reciprocated. I know Joe fired her at least once and my dad quickly hired her back!

I met Peggy in 1986 when she welcomed me as the 10th member of the very small yet very successful Clayton & Dubilier family. There I learned life lessons as I watched how graciously Peggy treated everyone from CEO's and investors visiting the firm…to the couriers delivering packages and the cleaning lady at the end of the day. She equally respected the importance of everyone's role. Peggy conducted her life on the outside in the same way…she was simply the kindest, funniest, most genuine and generous human being I have ever known. She gave of herself each and every day never asking for anything in return. Although we were separated by 2,000 miles (we moved to Colorado in 1994 when I left C&D), we hadn't seen Peggy in 20 years since her 60th birthday celebration in Long Branch, NJ. But we continued to talk on our birthdays each year including her last…her 80th, just a few months ago. I always wanted to make sure Peggy knew what a wonderful example she had set for me so long ago, and I made sure to thank her at the end of each call and also for being such a wonderful friend…nothing we ever took for granted. Peggy has left her mark on our hearts and she will be missed forever but NEVER forgotten.”

Sharon & Bill

The days, months, years and miles travelled with Peggy were a big part of our lives, and we will always cherish the memories of the roads traveled – the challenges faced and the triumphs celebrated with her. “Best friends are the people in your life who make you laugh louder, smile brighter and live better.” Peggy was that best friend.

One very, very nice woman whose company we always enjoyed.

Margaret "Peggy" Coiro

2025-08-06

When you show kindness to another human being a ripple effect occurs that has endless possibilities for the number of lives it can potentially impact. Margaret “Peggy” Coiro (April 7, 1945 – August 6, 2025) created these ripples everywhere she went.

A well-traveled woman, Peggy spread kindness throughout the world with her loving, giving and thoughtful nature. She would say her favorite place she had the honor of visiting was Portugal; however, those who knew her knew that her favorite place was with her family. Peggy was a devoted daughter, a strong sister, a cherished friend, a mother figure to many, and Aunt Peggy to most. She spoiled her dogs, Jackie, Daisy, and Lumpy, who greeted her with love and smiles at Heaven’s gate.

Peggy accomplished many things in her life, lived many places, traveled to many cities, but most of all, she loved fiercely and moved mountains for those around her. The world is not quite as bright or funny without Peggy here; though she will always be with those who survive her, she will be greatly missed.
