Condolences:

Irene Basore

Marilyn was the secretary of the neighborhood book club when I first joined. She always kept us organized. She was a wonderful neighbor. My prayers are with the family at this sad time.

Evie Brewer

I never had the honor of meeting this beautiful lady but her daughter Cynthia was an imoortant part of my life when I needed help. I am wholly convinced she was just a reflection of Marilyn. May she rest in peace! Memories of her will be blessings to all that knew her!

Sandra Boyett

It was a privilege to work for Marilyn the last weeks and get to know her a little. She had that special sparkle in her eyes and beautiful smile.

Linda and John chastine

Dear Cynthia. We are so sorry for your loss. Wish we could give you a hug.

Doug & Robyn Potter

Doug worked many years with Marilyn at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. She was always such a delight! May the comfort of family and friends and the grace of God help you at this most difficult time.

John Flasco

John, we are very sorry to receive this news. Our mutual friend, Terry Dunphy, had shared that Marilyn was not in the best of health, but added that you and your family were taking good care of her. Time does fly! I remember the times as teenagers when we congregated at her home, then set out to do what we wanted to do. Many, many fun times!

Amy Petroy

Sending prayers and love to you and your family. May the wonderful memories of your mom comfort you more and more as time goes by.

Caye Stephen

Marilyn Riegler

2024-08-20

Marilyn Louise Riegler (née Gandee), 82, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Community Hospice Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring, Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Marilyn was born to Merle and Alberta (Mills) Gandee, on January 22, 1942, in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from North High School in 1960 and from The University of Akron in 1964. Marilyn worked as a speech language pathologist in the public school system for many years and then established a second career selling records management systems. In retirement, she enjoyed working at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, where she loved portraying for Mrs. Claus during the holidays.

Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, John, also from Akron. The two were married June 6, 1964. Marilyn and John raised two children, Cynthia of Jacksonville, FL and Michael (Sara) of St Johns, FL. Marilyn took pride in being a grandmother to Ethan and Olivia and was a dear sister to Katy (Terry) McCollum. Marilyn will be watching over her beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as extended family and her many friends.

The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Michael Catholic Church, 201 N 4th Street, Fernandina Beach, FL. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception at the parish hall immediately following the service. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

Because Marilyn was such a luminous and vibrant person, those who attend the service are encouraged to dress in the bright colors she loved, especially shades of blue.

Rather than flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, or give online at support.communityhospice.com.
