Condolences:

Marion George Gurley

2020-07-30

Marion George Gurley, 68, of Yulee went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2020.

He was born in Axson, GA to the late Clyde and Fannie Gurley and was the 7th son and 13th child of their marriage.

He married the love of his life, Jane Gurley in 1983.

Marion was a man of strong faith and loved Jesus. He believed in serving the Lord and being active in his church. Having worked in several trades, Marion was well known in the community as Gurley, the junk man. He leaves behind a legacy of being extremely giving, especially his fried turkeys, and a family first kind of man.

He was predeceased by parents and six siblings.

He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Jane, whom he called his Darlene; two sons, Joshua and his wife, Amanda and Michael and his wife, Amanda. He was blessed by six beautiful grandchildren, Hunter, Makenna, Kannan, Brantley, Chloe and Kiersten.

He also leaves behind his brothers, Curtis and his wife, Betty, John and Clovis; his sisters, Catherine and her husband, Quillian, Callie and her husband, Al, and Odessa and her husband, Clifford as well as several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

While he will be terribly missed by his family, they know he is rejoicing with being reunited with his twin brother, Clyde whom he dearly missed.

Due to concerns about COVID 19, the immediate family will have a private service.

They are planning to lay him to rest near his family home in Georgia at a later date.

Back in the day. Marion and I were good friends. We ran around together with several others. We had a lot of good times. His mother always said we were her other boys. I thought the world of her. I was good friends with the brothers that hung around with us. Bill Bunk Spivey and me were on our way deer hunting the morning after Jim and EJ Barlow got killed that night. The lord is the only thing that saved Marion that night, He was riding with EJ. They had just removed the bodies when we came up on the wreck. Marion, EJ and me had circled that block several times to warm up just like they did. My wife and I moved to Plant City Fl,, for a while. We lost touch with one another. I had not seen Marion in several years but thought of him often. Our condolence to the family.
