Martin G. Lents

2026-06-09

Martin Glynn Lents of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away peacefully at his home on June 9th, 2026.

Martin was born on November 19, 1959, in Folkston, Georgia to the late Nathan J. Lents and Emogene Miller. Martin grew up on Lents Road in Yulee, FL.

In 1982, Martin married Phyllis Daugherty. The couple welcomed three children into their home. His children remember him as a loving father who worked hard to provide.

Martin was a lifelong shrimper and proud captain of his shrimp boat, the Mar-Lou. His happiness was being a shrimp fisherman. Martin enjoyed his life as a shrimp boat captain and the many trips he would take on the Mar-Lou up and down the east coast.

Martin had many friends and always enjoyed a good conversation. He loved his grandchildren very much: Hey You, Possum, Porkchop, Turkey and T-Bone, as he affectionately nicknamed each one of
them.

Martin, AKA Papa, will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Martin leaves behind many friends, three sisters: Myrtle (Terrel) Hamlin of Mayo, FL; Shirley Lents of Tennessee, Nadine (Evan) Levenson of Texas; his children: Thomas Kyle Lents of Fernandina
Beach, FL, Kathryn Lents of Jacksonville, FL, Jenna (Sterling) Pierce of Fernandina Beach FL and five grandchildren: Jonah, Evelyne, Jedidiah, Lourdes and Sterling, all of Fernandina Beach, FL.

Services will be held on June 19th at 11:00 am at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home.

He will be laid to rest at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
