Mary Elizabeth Bennett

Mary Elizabeth Bennett, age 88 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL.

She was born on August 4, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Joseph Lemuel Stephens and Ellen Susan Westberry. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1947.

After marrying Daniel Griffin Bennett, the young couple moved to Fernandina Beach, FL in 1952 and raised their family.

She was employed by Terminal Paper Bag as a machine operator for many years before retiring.

Mary was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and always said that her family was her blessing. She was a longtime member of Springhill Baptist church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Griffin Bennett in 1995, son, Danny Bennett in 1972 and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Lindy Scott of Fernandina Beach, Florida.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Danelle (Larry) Morris and Helen (Leon) Crist both of Fernandina Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Honey (Glenn) Atkins of Jacksonville, Florida, Jenny (Roy) Kingery-Hall of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Danny (David Blocker) Crist of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Bennett Crist of Jacksonville, Florida; great- grandchildren, Daniel, Madison, Andrew, Jaydan, Braelyn and Sky. Joseph �Peanut� (Ann) Stephens of Yulee; sisters, Shirley (Allen) Kirkland of Callahan, Florida and Pat Forbes of Thompson, Georgia.

Mary was expecting her first great-great-grandson, Rhett this coming August.

She also leaves behind her beloved great-grand dogs, Shorty, Pup Pup and Shelby.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Springhill Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the church.

She will be laid to rest in Springhill Cemetery.
