Mary Ellen Clark, 81, of Fernandina Beach passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Warner Center for Caring.

Cookie, as she was affectionately known, was born in Jacksonville and was a daughter of the late Horace and Florence Davidson Anderson. She was raised in Jacksonville and was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School.

She had made her home in Atlanta and Fort Myers Beach before moving to Fernandina Beach in 2009 to be near family. While working some outside the home in the past she had most recently been a homemaker.

She loved walking on the beach, gardening, playing board games, and spending time with family and friends. She dearly loved her whole family but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her eternally positive outlook towards life and always being accepting of others.

She leaves behind her children, Herbert (Vanessa) Stokes of Hilliard, Ellen (Tommy) King of Fernandina Beach, Cheryl Boyce of Fernandina Beach and Cathie (Brooks) Andrews of Jacksonville; her grandchildren, Donny (Michelle) King, Thomas King, Herbert (Katie) Stokes, Jennie (Justin) Self, Amanda (Dustin) Bishop, Nicole (James) Highsmith, Lindsay (Doug) Roland and Kelly (Taylor) Humburger, many great grandchildren and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clark will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

She will be laid to rest in a graveside service at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Family Cemetery on Cedar Point Road in North Jacksonville.
