I met Matt in the Retreat golf league and we immediately had a connection. I had built some golf greens at my home and Matt couldn't wait to see how these had turned out. From then on until the time he moved South, he was my mentor and guru on all things golf green. A good buddy and a kind heart. I had the pleasure of meeting, and working for Matt while he was the superintendent at Foxfire. He made coming to work enjoyable. We built a friendship over the years, and always went out of his way to check in to see how my family, and myself were doing. Was stunned to hear the news of his passing. My condolences to his family, and friends. We lost a good one.
