Melody Barnhart
2018-03-01
Mrs. Melody Barnhart, 66, of Callahan passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Tony and Sarah Pollock Moses.
Over 40 years ago, she met her husband Fred D. Barnhart during the early stages of the development of the Argyle Forest area of Jacksonville. Fred was surveying in the area and Melody was operating a bulldozer. She also operated other heavy equipment in her younger life.
Melody had various careers through the years but she had really come to enjoy retirement. She loved her swimming pool and billiards. Along with Fred, she loved going to the movies and exploring new restaurants.
In addition to Fred and the rest of her family Melody dearly loved her black Labradors, Smokey and Sugar.
Her surviving family includes her husband of 40 years, Fred D. Barnhart of Callahan; a son, Fred (Staci) Barnhart, Jr., of Orange Park; her siblings, Marcia Gwynne of Peachtree City, Georgia and Mark (Karen) Moses of Chino Valley, Arizona; a sister in law, Sandy (Ruby) Barnhart of Jacksonville; a brother in law, Gary (Mai) Barnhart of Jacksonville; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Melodys family and friends will gather at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery for burial and a moment of remembrance.
