Merrilee Jackson Chamberlain

Merrilee was born in Waterbury, CT on 9/14/1936 to Dr. Glenn Edward Jackson and Evelyn Balch Jackson. She was brought up in Watertown, CT and graduated from Watertown High School and Clark University Worcester, MA where she met her husband of 63 years, Peter B. Chamberlain. Following graduation, she taught school in Massachusetts and New York and later was a compensation analyst for a major insurance company. She and her family moved eight times before she and her husband retired to Amelia Island in 1994, after having vacationed here since 1982.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Gay Jackson. She is survived by her husband and two sons Kirk Chamberlain [Ginnie] of Waverly Hall, GA and Tod Chamberlain [Nancy] of Suffield, CT and grandchildren Kristin Chamberlain of Waverly Hall, GA, Michele Kaufman [Justin] of Wilmington, MA, Holly Rigby [Dr. Joseph] of Sudbury, MA, Mandy Chamberlain of Houston, TX, and Keith Chamberlain of Melrose, MA and two great grandsons William Rigby and Benjamin Kaufman.
The family will celebrate her life at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Community Hospice for their caring support. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Boys and Girls Club of Nassau County: Roberts Learning and Achievement Center, 1175 Lime St, Fernandina Beach, 32034 or the Nassau County Humane Society, 639 Airport Rd, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 may be made in her memory.
