Michael Ray Higginbotham, age 69 of Yulee, Florida passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Born on August 7, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Robert Higginbotham and Cora Lee Dyal. He lived in Jacksonville, Florida until his sophomore year before moving to Fernandina Beach. During high school he played the Alto Sax in the high school band and graduated in 1972.
After graduation, Michael worked at the Container Corporation. He wanted to serve his country and enlisted into the Air Force in 1973. He served for four years.
Michael was an electrician by trade, but was an avid reader. He loved U.S. history, war history and the history of famous people. His family says that he can remember facts and details about history of all kinds.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Robert Higginbotham and brother, Randy Higginbotham.
He leaves behind his mother, Cora Lee Higginbotham; brother, Robert “Tim” Higginbotham and wife Lynne; nephews, Eric Higginbotham and wife Katie and Kevin Higginbotham and wife Angela and Stephen Higginbotham; step nephews, Bobby Hernandez and Jonathan Rider; great nephews, Ethan Higginbotham and wife Adelle and Hayden Higginbotham; great nieces, Kate, Lauren and Catlin; great great niece Raven; his companion, Lois Conklin and friends.
Donations may be made in his memory to Community Hospice.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oxley Heard Funeral Home.
