Michael Timothy "Doc" Dougherty

Michael Timothy "Doc" Dougherty, 61, of Fernandina Beach passed away Thursday September 1, 2022 at his home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late John F. and Henrietta Bauer Dougherty. Doc served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the Marine Corps, he was recruited to come to Fernandina Beach to head up the bartending team at Baxter’s Restaurant. He had lived in Fernandina Beach for 30 years and continued at Baxter’s until the time of his passing.

Doc leaves behind a brother and a sister in Philadelphia, and a host of local friends to cherish his memory.

A memorial service for Doc will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors, beginning at 2:00 PM.

He will be laid to rest with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
