Michael Wayne Mauney
2020-08-18
Michael Wayne Mauney, 48, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at his home.
He was born in Jacksonville and was a son of Steven B. Mauney and the late Vicki McElyea Snyder.
He grew up Yulee and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1989. He worked for many years as a tile setter on several construction projects in the area. He had lived on the northside of Jacksonville for the last few years.
Michael was a fun loving guy who loved both friends and family. He was spontaneous and found a way to enjoy any situation. Everyone knew when he was there by his favorite saying Loud and Proud!
Whether he was fishing, cooking or watching Gator football, Michael had a good time. He was able to travel as part of his work and liked visiting new places. Even with the many different things he enjoyed doing, Michael found the simple things, such as hanging out with family and friends and sitting around a fire the best of times.
In addition to his mother, Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Carole McElyea and Slats McElyea.
He leaves behind his pride and joy, his son, John Mauney of Stokes, NC; his father, Steve (Helen) Mauney of Mondamin, IA; his siblings, Steven Bryant Mauney and Christy (Joey) Sutton, of Yulee; Johns mother, Tina Todd (Jamie) of Stokes, NC; his girlfriend, Sheryll Williams of Jacksonville; and a beloved friend and mentor, Bill Davis. His cousins, Elaine and Dewayne Barry of Jacksonville and Lisa Jones of Fernandina Beach.
Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
oh, so happy and so bright!
There is a perfect joy and
beauty in the everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
safely home in heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,
so you must not idly stand,
do it now, while life remaineth
you shall rest in Gods own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
oh, the rapture of that meeting
oh, the joy to see you come!
A time to remember and celebrate Michaels life will be held the home of his sister. All are invited to come and share a memory at 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 85142 Linda Road Yulee, FL 32097
