Johnny, Gary and Von, our hearts ache with yours in the passing of Mrs. Gaye. But we rejoice that she is with her Maker and no longer suffers with the frailties of this life. We are both honored to have known her and her sassy sweet personality. May God bless you all as you remember the many ways she positively impacted your lives. Much love to you all!

One of the sweetest ladies we've ever known. Gaye and JC were our very first neighbors for the first 10 years that we lived in Fernandina. She would always hang vegetables from their garden in a bucket on the fence for us. She loved 2 yr old April and quilted her a beautiful quilt that she still has. We had many wonderful talks "over the fence" and we love them both dearly. RIP Gaye and give JC a hug.

Mrs. Emma Gaye Adams

2024-01-23

Mrs. Emma Gaye Adams, 89, of Fernandina Beach Florida passed away January 23, 2023 at The Bill and Jane Warner Center for Caring.

She was born in Marietta, Mississippi and was a daughter of the late Bardie and Emma Pounds Moore.

She was married to her husband, Johnny C. (J.C.) Adams in 1953 and in 1954 they moved to Fernandina Beach and made it their home. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and working with her plants. She had quite the green thumb. She raised a wide variety of plants. She would sometimes sell them but often would just give them away to nearly anyone who happened to come by her home.

She always made her home open to anybody. Whether it was a friend who stopped by or somebody one of her boys would bring home she would welcome them and most likely feed them no matter the time of day or night. Her boys can remember many meals of mashed potatoes and hamburgers prepared on a moments notice and all hours of the night when they brought someone home with them.

She and J. C. also loved to go to Saturday yard sales. They would travel, sometimes a hundred miles or more going to yard sales nearly every Saturday. She also loved going out to eat and not just at area restaurants. She would travel for miles to go to a particular restaurant up in Georgia or somewhere in Florida just for the sake of going and eating there.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, J. C. in 2022 and also all of her siblings. She is survived by her 3 sons, Johnny, Gary (Maggie) and Von (Becky), all of Fernandina Beach; 5 grandchildren, Chelsea McFadden, Jarrod, Ethan, Colton and Jay Adams, and 3 great grand-children, Averi and Austin McFadden and Chloe Adams. She also has a daughter by love, Michelle Arseneau (and her husband, Jim Alderson)

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 beginning 3:00 PM at the Fernandina Beach Church of Christ where she was a longtime active member. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Bosque Bello Cemetery as part of a private family service.

The family asks, rather than flowers, she be remembered by donations in her memory to the Fernandina Beach Church of Christ.
