My deepest condolences to the Family. Mrs Hamilton was an inspiration to me with her godly ways & love for her Family. Her hidden recipes were truly my treasure from her & I am so thankful to have been given them from her. She was already a loving Mother in Law to me when Wayne & I were together quite a few years. The Family was Family to me. I am so deeply sorry to hear of such a wonderful woman that gained her wings. Kim, Sandra & Mr. Hamilton she will be missed. My deepest sympathy to all of you. I hope you all find peace with the fond memories you have shared with her

Nella Faye Hamilton

2023-12-15

Nella Faye Hamilton was born on September 23, 1941, to Minnie Belle and Rudolph Meeks in Alma, Georgia. Faye left her family's loving arms and entered the embrace of her heavenly Father on December 15, 2023. Faye, affectionately called Nana by her grandchildren, was deeply loved by her family and many friends. Faye is survived by her husband of 63 years, Russell Wade Hamilton; daughters, Sandra (Diego) Rodenas and Kimberly (Andy) Powell; grandchildren, Julia Rodenas, Staton Williams, and Carter Williams; sister, Sheryl (Alan) Peacock; brother, Gerald (Terry) Shrouder and many nieces and nephews.

In heaven, she joins those who went before her, including her loving son, Russell Wayne Hamilton, sisters, Vassie Shrowder and Voncile Putnam, niece, Gina Neeld, nephew, Michael Hamilton, her parents, grandparents, and several of her closest friends whom she loved as sisters.

Faye graduated high school in Alma and met her future husband, Russell, on the beach in Jacksonville soon after. Russell always said that he fell in love with her eyes. If Helen of Troy had the face that launched a thousand ships, then Faye had the eyes that melted thousands of hearts throughout her life, including the day she left this earth.

Faye was also very well known for her superior culinary skills. She loved to cook and share food with others all around the island. Many noted her generous and loving nature, making her a remarkable woman and child of God. She was also a waitress favored by many patrons at the original "Follow the Red Sign" Sandbar restaurant.

Faye leaves behind a family deeply mourning her passing and many faithful friends who are helping her family through this time of deep sorrow.
Using Faye's parting words to all she loved, her family wishes everyone a Blessed day!

Visitation for Faye will be held from 12 – 1 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023, with services immediately following at 1 pm. Services will be held at Fernandina Church of God of Prophecy, 2712 S 14th St, Fernandina Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Faye's great love for animals, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Nassau County, 639 Airport Rd, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
