Nelson Williams

Mr. Nelson Williams, age 74, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home.

A native and lifelong resident of Fernandina, he was the son of the late, Lewis Theodore and Ida Alberta Sanders Williams. Mr. Williams attended Peck High School and New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for a short time as a Longshoreman with the ILA at the Port Authority in Jacksonville before accepting employment at Container Corporation of America in 1971. He remained at Container through the sales and mergers until retiring as a Crane Operator with Jefferson Smurfit in 2006.

Since retiring, Mr. Williams has enjoyed time with his family, boating, fishing and riding motorcycles. He had a soft spot for all animals and was especially attached to his pit bull terrier, Bear.

Mr. Williams leaves behind his children: daughter, Selethia W. Knight (Frank), Savannah, GA, sons; Nelson Williams Jr. (Jasmine), Folkston, GA, Nelson E. Williams (Rhonda), Mobile, AL, Victor Lockett, Jacksonville, FL, Kevin McNeil, Kingsland, GA, Dwayne Peterson (Linda), Fernandina Beach, FL, Wayne Peterson, Fernandina Beach, FL, his siblings, Jacquelyn McGrady (Johnnie), Evans, GA, Marion Patterson, Kingsland, GA, Shirley Faison, New Haven, CT, Dollie Allen (John), Tomeka Williams, Lewis Williams Jr., Aaron Williams, Alvin Williams (Lucille), Adrian Williams (Audry), Daryl Williams, Cornelius Williams (Theora), a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a devoted friend, Jacqueline Wiggins. He was a devoted father, loving grandfather and great grandfather.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard with Apostle Jeanette Richo, officiating.

Mr. Williams will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 � 7:00 pm at Oxley Heard.
