Mr. Oscar Luis Fuentes, age 90 of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home. Born in Costa Rica, he was the oldest son and one of nine children born to the late Pablo and Josefina Aguilar Fuentes. In 1949 he married Marina Jenny Acuna. They made their home in Costa Rica and owned a Grocery and Baked Goods business before moving to the United States in 1962. Upon settling in Queens, NY he began working for the Armin family in the Plastics Industry where he remained until retiring as Plant Manager in the mid 1990s. Shortly after retiring he and his wife moved to Pompano Beach, FL. In 2004 he and his wife moved to Fernandina Beach to be near their daughter.
Mr. Fuentes was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Jenny Acuna Fuentes, Fernandina Beach, FL, their children, Oscar G. Fuentes (Laurie), Oakland Park, FL, Sandra Jimenez (Enrique), Jersey City, NJ, Marina Pestana (Roberto), Fernandina Beach, FL, four brothers, Jesus, Javier, Victor Manuel and Danilo, four sisters, Marine, Zeneida, Olga, and Ilda all of Costa Rica, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Jose Kallukalam, Celebrant.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 � 7:00 pm in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard where the Vigil Service for the Deceased will be conducted at 6:00 pm with Deacon Art Treadwell, officiating.
